Best time (July 10 ~ 20) to visit the ‘Lavender’ Fields of Furano!

In the beginning of Summer (July – August), A lot of flowers begin to bloom. One of the most popular flower that you shouldn’t miss a chance to see is ‘Lavender’. Here we introduce you to the 7 spectacular spots (Omita Farm; Shikisai no Oka; Kanayama Lake; Kanno Farm; Flower Land Kami Furano; Hinode Koen; Nakafurano Lavender) to see Lavender and other stunning flower-scenes in the central Hokkaido. Let’s take a look !

Especially cultivated at Farm Tomita, you can see 4 different types of lavender. All 4 types of flowers can be seen blooming around the middle of July. Given that each flower has its own distinct violet lavender color, you can enjoy the gradation with different tones.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The charms of this city include amazing gourmet foods such as fresh seafood, ramen, and Jingisukan (grilled mutton) as well as picturesque scenery that enchants visitors each season. Horomitoge Lavender Garden in Sapporo is famous as a garden where 5000 lavender flowers are sweetly in full bloom. The best time to see the flowers are within the one month period between the middle of July to the middle of August. Also, both Hakodate and Otaru, cities located in the South of Hokkaido and North of Sapporo, have a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere. Those two cities are definitely worth dropping by when you visit Hokkaido!

GEOGRAPHY

New Chitose Airport is the gateway to Hokkaido. Seikan Tunnel, the longest undersea tunnel in the world, connects Hokkaido and mainland Japan. With expansive farmland, also referred to as the breadbasket of Japan, the prefecture produces a variety of products, consisting mainly of rice, dry-field crops, and dairy and livestock products. The Central Area includes Sapporo, the biggest city in Hokkaido. Nature blends beautifully with the city function and the area is full of excitement and many leisure activities including shopping.

CLIMATE

Summer in Hokkaido is milder and can be the most comfortable place among the rest of Japan. The characteristics of the summer is that there is no rainy season and is not affected by Typhoon. The average temperature reaches 20℃(68°F) in the summer, but the humidity is low and the temperature is cool during the morning and evening.
