Zao Kattamine Shrine (Rear Shrine)
The shrine is dedicated to the water deities Amanomikumari-no-kami and Kuninomikumari-no-kami. Historically, this summit marked the site of Zao Daigongen Shrine, the very origin of Zao worship. This living tradition endures to this day: each winter, the sacred object is ceremonially transferred from the Inner Shrine atop the mountain to the Lower Shrine at its base.
